HAPPY 4th!!! A day to remember that we have our independence and we should feel grateful! It is the day we celebrate our Declaration of Independence...that piece of paper that freed us from Britian and helped to established our beautiful country. No matter your situation (with the times as they are) is there anywhere else you would rather live? Anywhere that could give you the opportunities you have?

Did you know...That it is myth that the declaration was signed on July 4th? The 4th was the day we separated from Britian and the day that the Declaration was completely edited...however it wasn't signed by everyone until August 2 1776. As a total coincidence, both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, two founding fathers of the United States and the only two men who signed the Declaration of Independence to become president, died on the same day: July 4, 1826, which was the United States' 50th anniversary.

Well, well, well, you never know who will show up in Brentwood Village. Could be Reese Whitherspoon, Harrison Ford, Dennis Hopper, Gene Simmons, Leeann Rimes OR could be our new President Obama. He landed just a few hundered yards from us at our local dog park. With minimal disruption to neighbors he sped thru to speak at at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

So you have all noticed the new meters?
A few facts; #1 the city has not increased parking meters since the late 1980's; #2 ALL of our L.A city councilmen voted yes to the rate increase; #3 DAILY means DAILY; #4 they take credit cards, cash and are easy to use IF YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! ; #5 you can have them send you a text when you are about to expire and add more money from your cel phone;
#6 the city uses the revenue from these meters to fund city costs and if meters and/or other parking where to become privately owned you would probably be paying A LOT more.

This historic ranch was developed by long time actor Will Rogers in the 1920's and enjoyed by his family until becoming a state park after he and his wife passed. Children of ALL ages enjoyed frolicking with Santa and making their Christmas wish. Patrons and merchants of Brentwood Village took pleasure in kettle corn, face painting, balloons, snowcones, cotton candy and yummy Pinkberry samples ALL FOR FREE!Carolers roamed the streets singing holiday cheer and merchants offered shoppers special discounts and treats.

Today I attended the most incredible and touching event announcing the groundbreaking of the Brentwood Fisher House. Speakers Chuck Dorman, City Councilman Bill Rosendahl, Ex POW/MIA Charlie Plumb, our own Tim Byk, the Pacific Palisades American Legion Post 283 and a handfulof other V.A officials explained the benefits of this amazing facility. Tim Byk played a major roll in raising funds for this special place that will act as home for the dozens of families (each day) that require a loved one to receive treatment at the Veteran's Hospital. Veterans can heal more comfortably and quickly with the support of their families and their peers. Please take a look at the good that is being created in our community. The Fisher Foundation has developed more than thirty successful locations across America with twenty more in the works.
